A couple of bargains for your Fucking Machine

As I said in my last post I am building a no expenses spared industrial strength fucking machine. I bought a 1500 watt linear power supply and it has a built in 5 volt supply which is convenient. However I just got a great deal on some DC to DC converters that can be used if you build your own power supply and do not want to use a little wall wart for the logic supply. I think they made a mistake because I got packages of 6 of these things for $5. So I got 18 for $15. They must have corrected the listing but they did honor the price when I ordered. Still a bargain at this price.

Here is a chance to save big if building a Shagmatic. I am not crazy about building Shagmatic boards and providing support for the ones I sell. I make a few dollars but … If you want to get by without buying a board, you can make your own with the following breakout board. It was made for a different microcontroller than the Teensy I use so the labeling is totally wrong. It does provide screw terminals for all pins on the Teensy 3.2 with a couple left over. If you want to use a 3.5 or 3.6 you can use the extra two pins. My Shagmatic board makes it easy to connect the RJ cables but you can find sockets with pigtails or make your own with keystone connectors. In fact I will probably use keystone sockets in my new machine so I can put the connectors in an ideal position. You can make all the connections to the Teensy with screw terminals. It will take a little effort figuring out the pin connections but all the necessary information is in the sketch source code. Even if you don’t use the following board for a Shagmatic fucking machine, it is useful for all your Teensy projects. At $6 the cost is less than buying the screw terminal headers pin headers and prototype board. I made a few of these in the past and wish I had known about these little boards. The quality is very good.

check the “resource” page for a doc on building your own Shagmatic using this breakout board.

The board is no longer available. Any other recommendation?

this page has all the information you need to build your own “board” Also, I have a new board that I am testing as time permits. It looks really good. It has two microcontrollers and will have much more advanced firmware to control the two teensies. It will have audio beat following and also the ability to record to and play back from any audio source. all features are tested but need to be integrated and there are too many projects, business problems related to COVID19 etc that it is difficult to know when the board will be ready for others to buy. since it will have technology that has taken me years to perfect and that will make this a truly amazing machine, it will not be cheap. i am guessing it will be about $300

Why 2 teensies? Is one of them a teensy 4? Also do you have more details about the ‘beat following’ feature? How does it convert audio into motion? FFT? etc..

one is a teensy 4 and the other a 3.x the teensy 4 is very fast but does not have true analog output if i remember right. it really could be done on one teensy but i want the flexibility especially when trying to track the joystick encoder with the choice of using or not using interrupts. processing audio can take a lot of the processor depending on what you are doing. the new board is set up so you can experiment with different tasks on different processors. read encoders and do audio record and playback etc. it is a real bitch to try to handle interrupts with competing processes. teensies are cheap.

the beat follower just uses peak sensing not FFT. it is very simple. with two processors you could do much more sophisticated audio processing and still have one of the teensies handle the background stuff.

I meant this breakout board is out of stock. Do you have a model of what it was or a picture?
