My new fucking machine controllers are based on the Arduino microcontroller platform although the board used is actually made by Digelent. A fucking machine based on my mechanical and electronic design would be within the capabilities of an advanced hobby tinkerer. A lathe and milling machine would be very helpful but not critical. Most of the parts needed are commonly available although I have chosen the best of the best and they are not cheap.
I am considering making the machine available as a kit of instructions including a “fucking machine controller shield” circuit board and all necessary software. If there is sufficient interest, I will assemble the kit and make it available at a reasonable cost. I have years of development into this project and the market is limited so I am not going to give it away.

I would estimate that a competent hobby machinist could build one in a week of part time effort for something close to $1500. The hard part was the design of a simple reliable and very capable mechanical system and the electronics and software to control it. This machine is not wimpy and is capable of a very fine degree of control. It is not just a simple in/out machine. The new file based control system allows for unlimited experimentation. I certainly enjoy the testing phase.
