It has been a while since I have updated this blog. I did mention that I have record to and playback from audio working and that I was working on the PC board. It will be much easier to test with some hard wired boards instead of the solderless proto stuff. I finally felt that I had checked the layout thoroughly enough and committed to some prototype boards. The boards have all connectors on them so there is no longer any need for clumsy socket holders etc. Also the limit switches are on a separate small board so they can be more easily located. Here are some pictures of what the new boards will look like. Purple solder mask with gold plating. This will be one classy board. It is currently made with through hole components for easy hand assembly. If volume is ever sufficient it could be made with surface mount technology and would be about 1/5 the size other than the connectors. Probably not even worth surface mounting it because the connectors take up so much of the board.
